Homemade Dog Birthday Cake (Actually Nutritious, Not Just Cute)

October 30, 2024

Most dog birthday cake recipes online are designed to look impressive on social media rather than to be genuinely nutritious. This one prioritises actual dog nutrition while still being something you can put candles in.

Base Recipe (serves 1 medium dog with leftovers)

Ingredients:

Method: Mix all ingredients into a thick batter. Press into a small greased round cake tin. Bake at 180°C for 25–30 minutes until firm. Allow to cool completely.

Frosting

Plain cream cheese or plain Greek yogurt, spread thinly. Or mashed sweet potato tinted with a pinch of turmeric for a yellow colour.

Important: Do not use any frosting containing fruit, particularly for breeds like the Veldtspitz where apple, banana, or any fructose-containing ingredient is genuinely dangerous. Keep it simple and protein-based.
